Top 10 Essentials to Pack on a Trip to Vegas
A light sweater or jacket—even if it’s 115 degrees in LV the casinos are usually freezing! I can’t tell you how many times I’ve seen women go to the hotel gift shop and blow $50 on a logo sweatshirt because they’re shivering. I usually tie something around my waist if we’re walking in and out of different properties.
Your best little purse sized hair spray—Vegas is usually VERY windy.
The most comfortable shoes you own! Casino walks and walks between casinos are very long. Also, if you’re attending a convention, the walk from your room to the expo can be a mile.
A small purse– with a strong strap that can be put over the neck and never leaves your body. Dragging a huge bag (usually unzipped with the wallet clearly visible) and flopping it around is just a bad idea. Backpacks are also a bad choice but belly bags, although somewhat unfashionable, are very safe as well as comfortable.
Unless you plan on doing a lot of clubbing, stick to your most comfortable clothes. 98% of shows and restaurants in Las Vegas allow casual dress.
Sunscreen—wow, a lot of gals come out here, lay by a pool for an hour and get fried! Don’t underestimate the power of the sun in Sin City.
Lip balm—lips have a tendency to get really chapped out here if you are not used to the dry heat.
A carton of smokes—if you’re a smoker, you will smoke more when gambling– so come prepared. Casino/hotels charge as much as $10 a pack unless you’re a high roller in which case, you can demand them to be comped.
Tip money—Vegas runs on tips so have plenty of small bills with you, and if you don’t have change—go get some! There’s a cashier’s cage every few feet, plus, your traveling companions will get easily irritated by constantly having to dig out change for you.
Your favorite “hangover remedy”—let’s face it ladies, the majority of you come to Vegas to party and unwind. Don’t get caught with a hangover and no aspirins. That long walk down to the gift shop to pay $10 for 4 aspirins will only make you feel worse!
