RIO

We started staying at the Rio in the early 90’s when it was a small local’s hangout. Now the Rio is a large resort with a great carnival atmosphere and a good crowd on the weekends.  “Bevertainers” sing and dance periodically on the casino floor. The Rio is about a mile from the strip, but don’t try to make the walk. Take a cab from the side entrance of the Bellagio and forget about walking across the top of I-15 to get there—it will only cost $4 dollars or so. The rooms at the Rio are all suites, bathrooms are small, and some good views from the east side of the towers. Rooms start at $99.

  • Amenities: casino. 4 pools, 12 restaurants, health club, spa, salon, golf course, shopping, business center, 24hr room service laundry service
  • In Room: pay movies, mini bar, refrigerator, Wi-Fi (fee), coffee maker on request, safe, ironing board, hair dryer
  • Hint: The American Grill has some of the best Buffalo wings in town.  Ask for them to be “double dipped” in sauce to take you to wing heaven!
  • Hint #2: For $10 or $12 you can ride with the performers of the Masquerade Show in the Sky. It’s fun and there is a photo session afterward with you wearing the crazy outfits they put on you.
  • Hint#3: If you get hungry and want to play a machine as well, go to the sports bar and order a pizza—they are darned good!
