Ladies: Look for Happy Hours!

piggy bankLadies, if you want to save a buck in Vegas, check out local happy hours at bars & restaurants. Years ago, it was difficult to find happy hours in LV as they didn’t really have to offer specials to get folks to come in and drink. So, it seemed like everywhere you went a Cosmo or a skimpy glass of wine was $9 or $10–not economical–especially when the server spills half the Cosmo before the delivery! But, there is hope: as economical times get tougher restaurants must get more creative at attracting customers.

Some local happy hour specials are listed under our HAPPY HOUR section, but, happy hours are changed and/or canceled quite frequently so call or go to the site of places that you are interested in. If you’re staying at a resort/hotel, ask the employees if they know of any good happy hours. You can also check with your concierge–there may be some specials right under your nose in the hotel.

What can you expect to save attending a happy hour? Expect special prices on selected drinks and small plates of food. Some pubs offer specials on buckets of beer as well. We’ve even heard of some places that offer FREE appetizers for a couple of hours. Here’s an example of a happy hour menu we recently ordered: a six-slice pepperoni pizza, calamari, cheeseburger sliders, chicken satay with Asian slaw, a watermelon Cosmo, & a glass of ice water for only $26.00 at the Kona Grill in Boca Park. This happy hour is only served on the terrace and in the lounge, but it rocks because they don’t cut down the size of the apps which are usually $8-$10. For any of you who have been to the Kona, you know the food is excellent and the portions are generous. This is also a popular sushi spot and selected rolls are only $3 during happy hour!

Remember certain things about happy hour–there are rules, ladies! The time frame is usually strictly abided by. Don’t expect to order specials a half hour early or later. EVERYTHING is not on special! The establishment usually provides a list or a special menu for HH items. Sometimes, happy hours can get really crowed because, let’s face it, you’re not the only one who wants to save a buck! The best bet is to get there early, pick out a good seat, and dig in. If you don’t mind sitting at the bar, THAT is sometimes the best place to get fast service during busy times. Lastly, because Vegas is a 24 hour town, happy hours can happen twice a day here. For example, it’s not uncommon for bars to offer a happy hour from 3-6pm and then again from 11pm to 2am to accommodate night shift workers. That’s a good tip to remember if you’ve been up gambling all night!!

I try to keep up with happy hour specials on Twitter, so follow us at: ladieslovelv there for daily posts on what all the bars are doing around town to attract the ladies!!
