Restaurants

Dessert at Buchon

Dessert at Buchon

OMG! The restaurants in Las Vegas are amazing! We thought we died and went to heaven when we started eating our way through LV. Actually, it’s not uncommon to hear antic dotes from locals lamenting on all the weight they gained after moving here. The choices are absolutely endless—there is something for everyone and the quality of the dining experience is usually pleasant and satisfying.

Upon moving here and getting to know the “lay of the land” we were surprised at 2 things: the enormous amount of sushi restaurants/bar and the utter lack of “Coney Island” diners. We have also been a little challenged in the pizza department (Detroit has great pizzerias and coneys). On the other end of the spectrum, the trend of celebrity chefs opening fine dining restaurants in LV should satisfy even the fussiest gourmet.

Ok, ladies, there is no way we could list all of the dining choices in Las Vegas! Are you sure? Yes, we’re sure! But what we will do is start with OUR favorites. These are places where we have personally dined and given our seal of approval. We also want to hear about your favorites so we can check them out too. We won’t deprive ourselves or limit ourselves and we do it all for you! Seriously, we would appreciate your comments and reviews. Let us know about a great meal you had in Vegas. Bon Appetite!

Restaurants by Cuisine

Barbecue
Lucilles Smoke House Bar-be-que at the District, the ribs, pulled pork, biscuits, mac & cheese are all great. Eat in the bar or on the old fashioned porch outside. Don’t forget to have a jar of strawberry lemonade!
Salt Lick at the Red Rock Resort, the best home made turkey dinner of all things! Barbecue is good too.

Bistro
Buchon at Venetian, wonderful French comfort food presented by Thomas Keller. The braided bread and warm pistachios are a great touch. Our favorite is the flat iron steak frite. When weather allows, sit out on the veranda for a magical experience.
Mon Ami Gabi at Paris, the best place in town to people watch and gaze at the Bellagio fountains as well. The French onion soup is amazing of course.

Brazilian
Samba Brazilian Steakhouse at the Mirage, it’s more of a fun place to eat many meats off of swords! The pre fixe menu is very good–sample a little bit of everything.

The Carmel Room at JW Marriott Summerlin, we love the escargot, spinach salad, and osso buco.
Sensi at Bellagio, imaginative food in a beautiful setting.

SW Steakhouse at Wynn, lovely terrace with a view of the fountain show. You know the food and service are fantastic as well.
T-Bones at Red Rock Resort, gorgeous dining room and great patio overlooking the pool area. The steaks are wonderful but we love the broiled scallops just as much.

The Steakhouse at Circus Circus, dark, old Vegas, old style service, and great dining.
VooDoo Steak at the Rio, the view and the steaks are equally satisfying.

Sushi
Makino at the Premium Outlet shops and other locations, a sushi lover’s buffet!
Kona Grill, in Summerlin and Henderson, we love the sushi here even though they serve a lot of other things. The atmosphere is lively and comfortable at the same time. The chicken satay, salads, and the clam chowder are amazing.

Thai
Kung Fu in Chinatown, just west of strip, if you speak Thai, order off the menu for the real thing. They have tamer Chinese selections on the huge menu as well. Try the chicken and basil, crispy fried fish, or the Thai omelet.
