Don’t Mispronounce Your Food!
Judy Hevdejas posted a top 10 list of the most mispronounced “foodie” words in the Feb. 22 issue of the Chicago Tribune that was quite interesting since we have all heard these words butchered from time to time. Are you guilty? In all the years I’ve been ordering at restaurants, the servers have only corrected my pronunciation a couple of times. Indeed, the article points out that many of the servers don’t even know how to pronounce these correctly. The hardest one for me has always been gyro because even though I know the proper way to say it, my mouth just won’t let me do it right! So here is Judy’s list and I’ve added a few of my own. I’m sure I’ve missed some so let me know the mangled ones you’ve heard.
